Prahlad Kakkar has ruled the advertising world with his brand of irreverent humor and has created award wining commercials for the most reputed corporates and agencies in India and the Asia Pacific region. He is also a worthy recipient of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to Advertising and Film Art (2000). The Abbys, held in Bombay recently, conferred “Recognition of Distinction” for Prahlad’s contribution to Indian and Asian advertising. A staunch believer of living large, Prahald Kakkar has given shape to his myriad interests and effectively converted many into profitable ventures. A connoisseur of cigars and fine food, he owns a thriving business of his personal brand of cigars. His passion for food and people has proved instrumental in his association with a variety of restaurants, enabling him to introduce diverse tastes and styles of dining to the city of Mumbai. Not without a social conscience, he is also the co-founder member of Reef Watch Marine Conservation, involved in creating marine awareness, education, scientific research and data collection. He is a certified Scuba Diving Instructor, successfully running ‘Lacadives’, the first scuba diving school in the Kadmat and Bangaram islands of Lakshadweep. Subhash Tendle is an alumnus of Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Arts, Mumbai. He has more than 35 years of brand communication and advertising experience. He has worked as Creative Director for FCB-Ulka for more than two decades. In the last 15 years of his long stint in FCB as a creative director, he was largely involved in training creative people to be more effective in their idea generation work. Therefore, after formally retiring from FCB, the next logical step was to begin a new career—teaching advertising communication at the Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA), first as visiting faculty for three years, and now on a permanent basis as faculty teaching Creative Communication. At MICA, he is responsible for the success of one of its courses, Crafting Creative Communications, a specially designed course for budding art-directors, copywriters and ad-film makers. He is also a partner and creative think tank of Sixth Sense, a corporate communication and design boutique based in Bangalore.
